The theme of the Presidents’ Summit is aligned to the theme of the 26th World Conference, which is “Growing capacities for sustainable distance e-learning provision”. Given the specific audience of the Presidents’ Summit, however, a dedicated focus on leadership is introduced for the specific discussions among the delegates of the Presidents’ Summit. This is also in line with global developments, which have recently been placing greater emphasis on matters of leadership and governance of higher education.

The invited keynote speakers for the Presidents’ Summit will specifically share their experience on a range of topics that foster better leadership, including:

  •  New opportunities and challenges in leadership and governance in higher education
  •  The role of higher education in developing a culture of ethics and values
  •  Leadership challenges when implementing e-learning pedagogies
  •  Leading and managing diversity
  •  Enhancing higher education opportunities through north-south partnerships and public-private collaborations
